Harringay Ward SNT is located in a central position within the Borough, running north-south along the west side of Green Lanes. The area is popularly known as ‘the Ladder’ because of the street configuration - 19 parallel roads, bordered by Green Lanes and Wightman Rd.

Crime statistics for the area need to be interpreted carefully. Firstly, the area has the largest number of HMOs (houses in multiple occupation) and conversions within the Borough, which can lead to an apparently high number of recorded burglaries. Secondly, the SNT area includes Finsbury Park, which can have a negative impact on the number of robberies.

Overall, the Ladder and Green Lanes have become much safer over the past few years, both in reality and in local residents’ perception.
  • Street Crime: 2006-2007 – 143 incidents of theft from a person – snatch and pick pocketing.
  • Youth Crime: 2006-2007 – 93 incidents of youth crime in Harringay.
  • Auto Crime: 2006-2007 – 38 incidents of theft/taking and driving away in Harringay.
  • Residential Burglary: 2006-2007 – 193 incidents of residential burglary.
  • Non Residential Burglary: 2006- 2007 – 19 incidents of non-residential burglary.
