Stroud Green Ward
Stroud Green is at the bottom of Haringey and has borders with both Hackney and Islington Boroughs. It stretches from Seven Sisters Road, going north to Weston Park with Stroud Green Road and Crouch Hill on the west and the railway line on the east. The bottom bit of the ward is often known as the forgotten bit of Haringey by its residents! It is a very diverse and vibrant area, whether it’s race, class, income, size of household. It has several small council estates, housing association accommodation, a private rented sector (some of which is very poor quality) and owner occupiers living in large late Victorian houses or converted flats. There are several small shopping areas and Stroud Green Road is now a thriving shopping and eating area, after years of decline. Local people use Stationers Park, the Parkland Walk and Finsbury Park as their green spaces. Although Finsbury Park is not actually in the Ward, it has always been a major concern for local people, whether it’s is about parks maintenance, events in the Park, facilities in the Park, etc. The Park is now a lot safer than it used to be and is well used by local people. A much needed Youth Club is opening in the southern part of the Ward at the end of January. Crime figures are regularly monitored by the Panel so that priorities are relevant to our regular consultation exercises and the actual crime figures. The Ward is now represented on Haringey Council by three Lib-Dem councillors: Ed Butcher, Lorna Edge and Richard Wilson Stroud Green is a ward in the borough of Haringey, located adjacent to Finsbury Park.
