White Hart Lane is amongst the 5% most deprived wards in England overall. It has a population of approximately 12,000 people and the area is largely residential with "cottage style" low rise family properties, built as public housing in the 1920s and 1930s. Unlike many parts of Tottenham it retains a significant predominantly white working class population, many of whom have lived in the area for several generations.
